Becoming a member is the first step to taking advantage of the benefits RBFCU provides. There are more than 5,000 ways to qualify for membership and become part of the credit union, including where you live, work, worship or attend school.
Joining online is quick and easy! You can also open an account at any local branch.
How do I open my account with RBFCU?
You can complete your application online if you are 18 or older. It typically takes less than 15 minutes.
To complete the qualification and account opening process, you’ll be required to:
- Provide your address, contact information and Social Security number
- Determine how you qualify for membership (There are plenty of ways to join!)
- Verify your identity with a state-issued ID
- Provide a credit or debit card to fund your new savings account with a minimum of $1
Please note: Members are required to open a primary savings account with a minimum deposit of $1, which must remain in the account at all times. A checking account can be opened with a zero balance.

Specialized Accounts Requirements

Estate Account
All executors/administrators must have a primary savings.
- Original certified copy of death certificate
- EIN documentation (EIN or IRS letterhead)
- Valid identification for the executors/administrators (e.g., driver’s license, U.S. military ID, passport)
- Letter of testamentary or letters of administration — obtained by probate courts
- Specialized account application — completed and signed by executors or administrators (internal RBFCU form)
- Master membership application, if applicable (internal RBFCU form)

Representative Payee/Fiduciary Account
The ward must have a primary savings.
- Award letter from the Social Security Administration from the Department of Veteran Affairs, or the U.S. Treasury Check reflecting representative payee or fiduciary status
- Valid identification for representative payee or fiduciary (e.g., driver’s license, US military ID, passport)
- Specialized account application — completed and signed by the representative payee or fiduciary (internal RBFCU form)
- Master membership application, if applicable (internal RBFCU form)

Guardianship Account
The ward must have a primary savings.
- Court issued permanent guardianship documents naming the ward and guardian
- Valid identification for the guardian (e.g., driver’s license, U.S. military ID, passport)
- Specialized account application — completed and signed by the guardian (internal RBFCU form)
- Master membership application, if applicable (internal RBFCU form)

Texas Uniform Transfer to Minor's Account (TUTMA)
The minor must have a primary savings.
- Valid identification for the custodian (e.g., driver’s license, U.S. military ID, passport)
- Master membership application, if applicable (internal RBFCU form)
- Specialized account application — completed and signed by the custodian (internal RBFCU form)

Revocable Trust
All grantors/settlors must qualify for membership and at least one must have an account at RBFCU.
- Valid identification for all trustees (e.g., driver’s license, U.S. military ID, passport)
- Notarized trust documents naming the trust, grantors, beneficiaries, trustees, and successor trustees (if applicable)
- EIN documentation (must be provided on IRS letterhead if the trust has an EIN)
- Master membership application, if applicable (internal RBFCU form)
- Specialized account application — completed and signed by the guardian (internal RBFCU form)

Irrevocable Trust
All grantors/settlors and beneficiaries must qualify for membership and at least one must have an account at RBFCU.
- Valid identification for all trustees (e.g., driver’s license, U.S. military ID, passport)
- Notarized trust documents naming the trust, grantors, beneficiaries, trustees, and successor trustees (if applicable)
- EIN documentation (must be provided on IRS letterhead if the trust has an EIN)
- Master membership application, if applicable (internal RBFCU form)
- Specialized account application — completed and signed by the trustees (internal RBFCU form)

Interest on Lawyers Trust Account (IOLTA)
The attorney must have a primary savings.
- Valid identification for the attorney (e.g., driver’s license, U.S. military ID, passport)
- IOLTA notice to financial institution and foundation
- Master membership application, if applicable (internal RBFCU form)
- Specialized account application — completed and signed by the attorney (internal RBFCU form)
